Customer Value is something that is always considered to be affiliated with CRM and other front office tools. The reality however is somewhat different. CRM, Call Centers and other front office can add the value however the fact is that the aforementioned tools are merely a strategic attributes of organization. ERP on other hand is computer based approach to manage internal and external organizational resources that results in overall quality improvement. ERP therefore takes a good care of customer value by enhancing overall internal and external traits of organization.
Functional Requirements refers to system requirements in software designing process such as calculation modules, data processing, data manipulation, system design parameters and guidelines and technical specifications. The key aim of functional requirements in a software design and implementation is to record desired behavior of software system in terms of functionality and technical implementation of business process.
Since ERP is related to all internal as well as external departments in an organization, its functional requirements are not very much easy to be drawn. There are two approaches to define functional requirement before implementation of ERP solution. First one is based on ERP Solution inspection and depending on that, molding organizational structure for the future reference. The second one is based on inspecting internal organizational structure, defining it explicitly and then opting down one of the available ERP Solutions in market. The first approach is considered as more complicated as it involves steps that can change the shape of whole organization. It is therefore discouraged by majority of market stakeholders. On the contrary, the second approach is considered more practical where an organization has to clearly define its structure, roles of each department, strategies, goals and then inspection of available ERP solution for compatibility matrix test. It should be remembered always that functional requirement is one of the most sensitive phase that must be completed with utmost care in order to deploy ERP Solution in any organization.
